in 2022

Insurance industry channeled back the resources it generated from premium production to the economy through claim payments, in 2022 as well.

Despite the toll of global inflation, disruptions in the supply chain, and volatility in exchange rates on insurance sector and its profitability, the sector still managed to deliver 137% premium production growth with TL 187,317 million premium production in 2022 excluding premiums transferred to the pool. In this f ramework, given the fund support it delivers to the economy, the sector stands out as a notable force.

Insurance sector channeled back the resources it generated from premium production to the economy through claim payments, in 2022 as well. Supplementary Health Insurance (SHI), a constituent of health insurance – one of the locomotive branches of the sector – has generated remarkable growth over the past two years. Among principal reasons for the growth in demand for SHI are the health business model within the social security system, and changes in consumer behavior within the course of the pandemic. SHI has evolved into the principal product of health insurance, driven by the satisfaction evinced by SHI owners from the services received, as well as the development of products and services.

Insurance sector, which generated 15% growth on average over the past 10 years, is estimated to sustain growth within the next f ive years. Turkish Insurance Sector retains its allure, underpinned by consolidation, growth, and the entry of local and foreign new players to the market.

Increase in Sector Premium Production

Insurance companies posted 207% growth this year from a year ago, with TL 47,732 million premium production in motor insurance. The branch to generate the highest real growth this year was once again motor insurance. Companies registered TL 46,940 million in traffic insurance premium production for 2022, corresponding to 160% growth in traffic from last year.

In non-motor insurance, companies recorded TL 68,794 million premium production this year, representing premium growth of 97% from a year ago.

As for health insurance, companies recorded TL 23,852 million in premium production this year, representing premium growth of 126% from a year ago.

Aksigorta took customer experience to the next level with its mobile application. The app was launched as a major step toward its next-generation insurance vision. This mobile application stands out by offering a digital service point to be integrated with all other channels for customers. The Aksigorta mobile application provides customers with omnichannel freedom and creates more value for its customers with the company’s collaborations in different sectors. The app also serves as a digital platform that provides a new way of communicating between the agency and the customer. By focusing on before- and after- sales with its mobile application, Aksigorta aims to create a meaningful relationship with users and actively participate in the world of risks of its customers. With the application, the transition from policy management to risk management was initiated.

The Aksigorta mobile application has assumed the role of a consultant on how to manage the risks in their lives and to protect their assets, with the video risk consultant service it offers to customers. Based on the fact that customers do not work with a single insurance company, the mobileapplicationalsoallowsusers to add their insurance policies from other companies and monitor their coverage directly from the Aksigorta app. With this innovative feature, Aksigorta customers can monitor all their coverage from a single application. Aksigorta developed the claims consultant feature in the mobile application to be able to accompany its customers in any situation and enabledcustomerstotalkto their consultants about claims processes via live chat at any time. Redesigning the complex policy environment with a customer- oriented perspective, Aksigorta designed a platform structure that makes the advantages and addedvalueofinsuranceclearto customers at all times, not just at the moment of damage. With the collaborations it established in the marketplace, it created an ecosystem that takes the risk managementofitscustomers beyond insurance.

Aksigorta collaborates with reliable brands so that customers can protect their assets in life not only with insurance products, but also through services that support insurance, and the Company enabled customers to access these services at advantageous prices.

  • In collaboration with the Parent and Child Development Online Counseling Platform Kidolog, a 20% discount is offered for single and package sessions via a code received through Aksigorta Mobile. Aksigorta customers who sought to take advantage of this opportunity purchased sessions at Kidolog, at a discount, with a code they could obtain from the Marketplace feature on the Aksigorta mobile app.
  • In collaboration with DogGO, the safe and professional dog walking and care service, pet owners were provided with a 15% discount code at DogGO, exclusive to Aksigorta customers, for 45- and 60-minute scheduled walks, via the Marketplace on the Aksigorta mobile app.
  • In collaboration with the vehicle maintenance service Auto King, customers were offered discounts on ceramic coating, air conditioning anti-bacterial cleaning, and ozone disinfection services.
  • In collaboration with Servislet, which provides tire change services, customers were offered a discount of up to TL 700 on vehicle tire changes.
  • In collaboration with Brisa, Brisa’s tire hotel service was provided so that customers could store their tires f ree of charge during the summer-winter tire change period.
  • In collaboration with the online veterinary consultancy platform Petopy, video consultancy service was offered at a discount.
  • Aksigorta, in collaboration with the discounted food and beverage club GastroClub, provided a one-year GastroClub membership to 45 thousand Aksigorta customers who signed up by downloading Aksigorta Mobil in August.
  • Collaborating with the travel agency Easytravel, Aksigorta provided its customers with a discount code of TL 300 valid for international flights. At the same time, the Company offered a discount code of TL 200 valid for visa transactions through its sister company Easy Visa.
  • Thanks to the cooperation with Pronet, Aksigorta customers who want to protect their homes are provided with discounts of up to 50% on security packages.
  • Collaborating with E-Taşın, which offers turnkey moving services, Aksigorta offered its customers a 15% discount on moving services.

Serving the Customer with Fast-Chat

Aksigorta’s ClaimsChat application provides a fast-chat return to the customer in response to a claim filing. A WhatsApp group – consisting of an expert, case manager, the service, and customer representative – is created by the AI. Transparent and rapid communication is ensured with the WhatsApp group created shortly after the claims notice. When the process is completed, the AI executes a sentiment analysis of the conversation and sends the data to the CRM system. By digitizing the claims quotation stage with its chatbot app, Aksigorta makes all its def ined operational services faster and more reliable for customers.

Solutions in 17 Minutes with Artificial Intelligence Support

Reshaping its insurance processes with artificial intelligence and digitalization, Aksigorta examined 145 thousand claims files in 2021 through the Claims Inspection Assistant project, which demonstrates the potential of augmented intelligence emerging from the interaction of human and artificial intelligence. By reducing the inspection time of a damage file from 22 minutes to 17 minutes, the project enabled an annual additional inspection capacity of approximately 33 thousand extra files. The Aksigorta Digital Assistant (ADA) has made life easier for damage appraisers, by shortening the inspection time for files and thus accelerating file payment approval and rejection decisions.

Fast Results with Online Expertise

Having long provided remote expertise services to both motor and non-motor customers, Aksigorta stepped up this service offering in response to the pandemic. Aksigorta ensures that expert report procedures are carried out via photos uploaded to the system. Customers are contacted via telephone, video conference and WhatsApp. Claims file closing procedures, which can take up to one week in the actual expert report application, are completed in as little as 20 minutes with remote expert reports. Faster processing eliminates potential customer dissatisfaction compared to much slower in-person appointments.

Scope Extended in Yacht Insurance

Focusing on customer satisfaction with a next-generation insurance approach, Aksigorta continues to stand by its customers with the comprehensive guarantees of Yacht Insurance against all marine accidents and hazards. Allocating a dedicated call center line to Yacht Insurance customers, Aksigorta has launched many innovations to the advantage of its customers, with discounts of 15% on marina fees, 10% on boat maintenance expenses, 10% on marinas and bay facilities, and 10% on boat materials, valid at contracted institutions.Yacht Insurance for private yachts provides 24/7 yacht assistance service – from treatment expenses to sending spare keys, and from temporary captain service to spare parts assistance –in the event of an accident, injury or illness. The insurance is also activated if the yacht, service boats, machinery or equipment are stolen. At the same time, in accidents caused by the yacht, the Yacht Insurance also covers damages to surrounding vessels and the people in them, as well as fixed and mobile objects such as ports, piers and quays.

“Economic Akkasko”

Aksigorta, responding to customer needs and expectations, developed Economic Akkasko, a new model designed to make motor insurance more affordable and accessible. Through Economic Akkasko, Aksigorta makes motor insurance more economical for its customers who do not want to use an authorized service. In addition to providing vehicles up to fifteen years old the right to earn a discount level that rewards safe drivers and the opportunity to have motor insurance, Economic Akkasko also offers a cost-effective option for customers unable to afford motor insurance due to economic conditions. With Economic Akkasko, insurance is provided for vehicles between three and fifteen years old and also for automobiles, pickup trucks, and private or company vehicles. In addition, advantages include benefits such as Unlimited Optional Financial Liability (OPL) and a non-pecuniary damage option up to TL 150,000; personal accident coverage of TL 10,000; a backup vehicle option two times a year for seven days; a roadside assistance option to the nearest Akçözüm service; glass guarantee at contracted glass services; TL 1,000 key loss and mini-repair opportunities.

“Pati Plus”

Aksigorta launched a brand- new product suitable for the needs of our four-legged friends. Pati Plus, a private pet health insurance product, provides inpatient treatment assurance of TL 25,000. While Pati Plus offers comprehensive assistance services and Third-Party Financial Liability coverage, it also covers inpatient and outpatient treatments and procedures such as routine examinations and microchip fitting of insured pets without an emergency health condition. Aksigorta also provides support to ENCANDER on behalf of Aksigorta customers who acquired Pati Plus for their pets for one year as a result of its cooperation with ENCANDER.

Compact Product Special for Borusan Collaboration

As part of the collaboration with Borusan Lojistik, Aksigorta has broken new ground in Turkey. Having developed a new business model for Borusan Lojistik’s needs, Aksigorta designed a new product for ETA, the digital logistics platform that brings together cargo and vehicle owners, and issued a new liability policy for Borusan’s sub-carriers. With this policy, drivers who set off take out their trip- based insurance, and all products transported in the vehicle arrive with an Aksigorta guarantee. In the Borusan Lojistik ETA project, an end-to-end digital process is offered to customers.

Contributions to Sustainability: Ecological Akkonut

Acting with the motto of protecting together what is valuable for a sustainable life, Aksigorta launched a new application that supports these efforts. The Akkonut application provides a 10% premium advantage to the owners of ecological houses that meet all their energy and water needs naturally without harming nature. Aksigorta customers with energy identity certificates or green building certif icates can benefit from this advantage, which rewards contributions to nature.

Aksigorta Insurance for Sustainable Transportation

Offering products and services that support sustainable solutions, Aksigorta launched a new insurance product in line with this vision. Offering a new MOD insurance product for the electric vehicle Citroen Ami, the Aksigorta application differs from existing electric vehicle insurances with the Third-Party Financial Liability assurance, as well as its wide coverage for the Citroen Ami.

The Akkonut application provides a 10% premium advantage to the owners of ecological houses that meet all their energy and water needs naturally without harming nature.

“Beyond” Insurance Academy

The ‘Beyond Insurance Academy’ project, which consists of very useful trainings for the insurance sector and includes not only the Aksigorta agencies, but also all the stakeholders of the sector, also contributes to the development of university students who will enter the insurance sector. The second of the ‘Beyond Insurance Academy’, the first of which was held last year and provided added value to the development of the sector, started again in May. Aiming to contribute to the future and development of all sector stakeholders in cooperation with Bilgi University, Aksigorta was welcomed with great interest in the second period of the training project. In the training project, which includes not only Aksigorta agencies, but also all the stakeholders in the sector and university students, the participants are provided with trainings on many products such as health, fire, transportation, receivables, and cyber insurances, as well as in many fields such as risk engineering, tax law, digital marketing, sales techniques in the new world, and customer relations.

Agency Campaigns

Aksigorta, which has close relationships with its agencies all over Turkey, has granted additional commissions for some of its products and services this year, in addition to providing many trainings to its agencies. It organized travels abroad to further motivate its high-performing agencies.

Another Green Step for Agencies

Aksigorta continues to take important steps towards becoming a sustainable company. Aiming to minimize its paper consumption, Aksigorta no longer sends policy files to its agencies. Aksigorta, which has sent 3.7 million policy files to its agencies over the last three years, took another ‘green’ step by donating saplings to the Aegean Forest Foundation on behalf of its agencies and established two commemorative forests in the Manisa region.

Labor Day Celebrated with a Gift Card

Aksigorta continues to support its agencies, who continue to work f rom their homes, with its surprises. Celebrating the Eid al-Fitr and May 1 Labor Day of its agencies, Aksigorta presented shopping vouchers for use in certain markets to approximately 15 thousand people, consisting of its agencies and agency employees.

Regional Visits

Aksigorta made regional visits with its senior management, including General Manager Uğur Gülen and Assistant General Manager Tolga Tezbaşaran. With its agency visits, Aksigorta stood by its agencies in the challenging economic conditions of the insurance sector, as it has been for more than 60 years, and once again did not abandon them. And together with them, Aksigorta had the opportunity to discuss the potential solutions to be developed to the problems facing the sector.

DIGITAL SECURITY PLATFORM

Having won important national and international awards also in 2022 with its social responsibility activities, Aksigorta strives to increase the digital risk awareness in society.

Digital Security Platform Learning Module Renewed

Aksigorta continues its work at full speed by renewing the learning module in its Digital Security Platform. The video contents prepared with the support of Boğaziçi University Lifelong Learning Center (BÜYEM) offer free learning opportunities for families and SMEs, while up-to- date news and podcasts on the subject also constitute a reference source of information for users. With the renewed learning module, registration is no longer required for trainings, and video contents can be accessed 24/7 via the Digital Security Platform website. This platform, which aims to be ready for the risks that may arise in the process of adaptation to the digitalizing world, provides guiding warnings on topics such as information security, cyber-attacks, online shopping, e-mail security, security of social media accounts, and cyber bullying. Having reached over 1.5 million visitors since its establishment in 2020, the platform supports both individuals and SMEs to exist more securely in the digital world.

Digital Security Glossary is Online

Aksigorta, which created a reference source of information with its ‘Digital Security Platform’, has finally created a digital security glossary in order to increase awareness on digital risks and to prevent confusion in society. In order to avoid digital risks, Aksigorta identif ied the most searched insurance terms in the Google search engine, and created an online glossary from the definitions of these terms. So, a useful insurance reference resource was created by Aksigorta for consultation not only by customers but all internet users, when needed. The glossary currently contains approximately 85 digital risk terms. Aksigorta will further enrich this information resource with new terms on a regular basis to keep it updated.

Barış Manço Meets His Fans With Deepfake Technology

Aksigorta undertook a striking project for the possible risks that could be posed by digitalization. Bringing Barış Manço and his fans together 23 years after his death with ‘deepfake’ technology, Aksigorta drew attention to how ‘livable’ digital risks actually are, contrary to the general belief in society.

Supporting Children’s Access Quality Education

Aksigorta entered into a meaningful collaboration with the School Support Association, acting with the mission of securing both the future and the values of today, because of the importance it places on education and a future built on solid foundations. Through the implemented the project, Aksigorta helps public school students in the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades receive an equal opportunity and a high-quality education. The project, run by the School Support Association, aims to improve students’ basic mathematics and science education through the use of distance learning tools.

Education Scholarship in Memory of İlham Saner

For the second time, Aksigorta is providing an education scholarship in memory of its founding first general manager, İlham Saner, who passed away on April 27, 2021. In cooperation with Aksigorta and the Turkish Insurance Institute Foundation (TSEV), 6 new graduates were awarded education scholarships for the 40th term of TSEV’s most prestigious training program, the Basic Insurance Training Program. With the cooperation, six individuals who are not yet working, graduated from the insurance-related departments of universities in 2022, and are pursuing a career in the insurance industry have been accepted to the 40th term of TSEV’s Basic Insurance Training Program with 100% scholarship thanks to the cooperation.

BIST Sustainability Index

Increasing its sustainability score, Aksigorta was recently included in the BIST Sustainability Index, where companies are evaluated according to international sustainability criteria on environmental, social, corporate governance, human and employee rights, and transparency. In this context, Aksigorta received the appropriate score in the Refinitiv’s valuation methodology, which consists of three main headings of the BIST Sustainability Index, namely environmental, social and corporate governance, as well as 10 categories, 25 themes and more than 450 data points related to these themes.

Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)

Aksigorta is committed to providing a democratic working environment for its employees with the awareness of gender equality. To this end, Aksigorta became a signatory to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) established by the United Nations Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Agency and the United Nations Global Compact. By signing this set of guidelines, Aksigorta has strengthened many of its current efforts on gender equality in line with the seven basic principles of WEPs. In 2013, Aksigorta signed the Declaration of Equality at Work in order to raise awareness of gender equality across the organization. Today, 50.3% of Aksigorta’s employees and 32% of its executive staff are women. By displaying a gender-neutral approach in all communication channels, Aksigorta strives to bring equality between men and women to every platform where it participates. Aksigorta further supports the issue of gender equality with specialized trainings and seminars.

Certificate of Equality for Women at Work

Defending gender equality in the business world as well as in all areas of life, Aksigorta added yet another certificate to those it received with its efforts in this context. Aksigorta, of which 51% of its employees are women, was awarded the Equality for Women at Work Certificate after an independent audit conducted in cooperation with the Sustainability Academy and the British audit company Intertek. It works on initiatives that will add value to women’s lives both inside and outside the company.

Aksigorta, which received 90 points in the audit where the passing grade is 70 points to obtain the certificate, was evaluated on topics such as ensuring gender equality and non-discrimination, establishing an effective management system against discrimination, providing safe working conditions, building mechanisms to prevent violence and harassment, informing the supply chain in line with policies, creating social impact for gender equality and women’s empowerment, and ensuring the participation of all stakeholders in the solution.

I-REC Renewable Energy Certificate

Aksigorta became the owner of the renewable energy certificate I-REC as part of its efforts to protect the future of the world. With this certificate it gained, Aksigorta proved that it meets its electricity needs from renewable resources, and took a serious step towards becoming a sustainable company. The company, which will renew its I-REC certificate every year, has thus made a commitment to continue using clean energy.

Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), created with the aim of spreading renewable energy investments and consumption, aim to create a reliable market by tracking each unit of electricity produced, starting from its source, until it reaches the consumers. In this context, RECS International’s I-REC contributes to consumers making conscious choices to ensure that they consume energy derived from renewable energy sources.

UN Global Compact Membership

Leading the business world with more than 15 thousand company members and more than 5 thousand non-company members in over 160 countries, Aksigorta became a member of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. Aksigorta, which supports the UN Global Compact’s struggle for human rights, labor standards, environment and corruption, will continue its efforts to make these principles a part of the company’s strategies, corporate culture, and daily activities.

Committed to participate in collaborations that support the development of the United Nations’ comprehensive development goals, especially the Sustainable Development Goals, Aksigorta will present its progress report to the UN Global Compact each year.

Global Compact Turkey, the local network of UN Global Compact in Turkey, supports the development of its members in the field of sustainability with its activities and the resources it provides, while serving as a meeting point for sharing good practices and establishing collaborations both locally and globally.

Aksigorta Removes Barriers on All Its Digital Channels with BlindLook Collaboration

Continuing its customer-oriented work with a next-generation insurance approach, Aksigorta launched a new collaboration within this context. Aksigorta has become a member of the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) Initiative, which provides global guidance on the integration of PSI, environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks into insurance underwriting.
