Aksigorta A.Ş. was established on April 28, 1960,
with its administration in Adana and business center in İstanbul,
in order to serve Sabancı Group’s companies. Today with its regional
offices in İzmir, Adana, Ankara, Trabzon and Bursa, representative offices in İstanbul
European Side, İstanbul Asian Side, Antalya, Denizli, Diyarbakır and Samsun,
and with a network consisting of Akbank branch offices and independent agents
throughout the country, Aksigorta is one of the leading companies
in insurance sector with its increasing market share in non-life branches.
Aksigorta united its administration and business center
in its building in İstanbul İstiklal caddesi on November 20, 1961,
and put İzmir Regional Office into service in 1970 and then Ankara
Regional Office in 1985, Adana Regional Office in 1986.
Aksigorta was the first company realizing
"Bank - Insurance"
in 1981. First online policy was issued in 1983. These innovations
were followed by the online connections to all regional offices in 1989.
On November 1994 Aksigorta realized a very successful
'public offering' and today nearly 34% of its shares are
in transaction in İstanbul Stock Exchange.

Aksigorta, at the
end of 1995, has moved from its historical Minerva Han
Building in Karaköy to former Akbank Head Office
Building in Fındıklı which was redecorated for a modern
working environment.

The first
(Annual) Painting Contest was held in 1995 for primary
school students. In the following years, the Contest was
held in Istanbul, Izmir, Sanliurfa, Eskisehir,
Samsun, Antalya, Kocaeli, Hatay and Denizli. In each
contest the first three participants and their schools were given
various rewards and plaques. The 10th Annual Painting Contest will be organized in
Bursa.
In October 1996,
Aksigorta opened The Fire and Earthquake
Simulation Center being first and only in Turkey and one
of few such centers in the world. The center was built
solely with Turkish technology in the framework of "Investment
for the Future" project. Nearly 40.000 students were given education
in the Center since then.
In 1996, Trabzon Regional Office was opened
and restructuring process of regional representative offices has begun.
Same year, with newly introduced "Human Resources Project", Aksigorta has passed on to the performance
management and career planning system.
In 1996, outstanding changes in the IT infrastructure
were made and all the projects
were renewed.
In 1998 for the first time in Turkey,
with the "Bankassurance Project", Aksigorta started to issue
policies online.
Same year,
online connection with almost 150 agents was enabled.
Same year, Aksigorta was entitled to
receive ISO-9001 quality certificate. The certificate
was renewed according to ISO 9001:2000 version in 2001.
In 1999 with the "Agents Project", in
order to achieve
more efficient
insurance transactions, the agents
started to use new software package developed by
company resources.
IVR system has become operational in
2001.
In 2002, a new representative office was established in Bursa.
In 2002, the Company Web Site was revamped and
all interactive web applications were renewed.
Same year, policies of Health branch were started
to be issued.
In the last quarter of 2002, "Call Center"
has become operational, providing various services from loss
file details to price quotations.
In 2003, Bursa Regional Office was
established.
